Did you know that you can use your computer to post photos directly to Instagram? I’ll show you how…
While you can easily view and interact with Instagram on a computer by going directly to your Instagram account, the ability to post photos isn’t a native feature of Instagram on a computer. BUT… there is a very quick and easy work-around!
This work-around just requires Google Chrome to work. You can upload photos DIRECTLY from your computer to Instagram. No need to email a photo from your computer to your phone, no need to use DropBox or GoogleDrive. So – for people who do not have a smartphone, but want to use Instagram for their shops – this work-around allows them to do that.
Here is a quick video tutorial on how to post photos directly from your computer to Instagram using Google Chrome.
Post Photos From Your Computer to Instagram:
- Launch Google Chrome
- Point your mouse anywhere within the Chrome browser window and click the right-mouse button
- Choose INSPECT from the menu
This opens Chrome in developer mode. - Point at the top edge of the developer console near the bottom of the screen, then with the two-headed arrow, drag that area of the screen down to give you more room at the top portion of the browser window
- Go to your Instagram account
The format is https://www.instagram/yourusername. - Click the Camera icon within the Instagram window
- Choose the photo on your computer that you want to upload and click OPEN
The photo now appears in Instagram. - Click the NEXT button and add a Caption to your photo
- Click SHARE to post the photo on Instagram
- In addition to using Chrome for working with Instagram on your computer, if you are using Windows, there is also a Windows App for Instagram that you can use. Click Windows Store Instagram App to install this free app on your Windows desktop. Once you have the app installed, you will see the Instagram icon on your Windows taskbar. Just click that icon for quick and easy access to Instagram. This Windows Instagram App allows you to interact with Instagram by viewing your activity feed, commenting and liking posts, searching for people and hashtags, and you can even adjust your Settings if needed. This Windows Instagram App does not allow you to post photos from your computer to Instagram, but the steps above solves that issue. 🙂
- There is another way that you can post photos from your computer to Instagram, and that is by using a free app called Later. Later is a scheduling app. You can use Later on your computer or on a smartphone. When you use Later on your computer, you can upload photos from your computer into Later, and then schedule the photos for when you would like them to post to Instagram. Later can’t actually post the photos directly for you, but it does send you a reminder to your phone and from there, you click Publish. Later is a very visual way to schedule your posts, and it works very well. There are paid plans available as well as the free plan, but you can definitely just stick with the free plan. Check it out!
