SHOPIFY ON FACEBOOK MARKETPLACE
You might recall a month ago or so when I posted something here about something I spotted on Facebook. It looked like it said "Shopity" not "Shopify". I warned everyone to stay away from that until we knew more.
I noticed about two weeks ago that Facebook changed that notice to "Shopify" now. I clicked on it, and it is something Facebook and Shopify have come up with together. You can now list your NEW products from your Shopify store to the Facebook Marketplace. NOTE: This is ONLY for NEW products - not for vintage products.
When I discovered this wasn't for vintage, I knew this wasn't something that would help my shop, or other vintage sellers here.
But, if you sell NEW items, you can now list them in the Facebook Marketplace in your area. This is a free tool and it could get you even more local exposure.
As of today, you can now add the Facebook Marketplace Sales Channel to your Shopify store - IF you sell NEW items (not vintage). Check it out.
If you have further questions, let me know and I can help.

So I'm assuming handmade items are considered NEW items. If you sell vintage and handmade in your shop, theoretically you could list your handmade items which also lists your shop name with the item...then in turn, it would give you some exposure for your vintage. Would that be a correct assessment @jaydee? I will look at the Shopify help page for this you referenced above, but do you have to list this under your personal page (which negates my earlier thought) or could you list it under your business page?

A couple of things I know about this new program (that has not officially been announced yet):
- Facebook Marketplace works with your Facebook Business Page, not your Facebook Personal Profile.
- If you add the Facebook Marketplace Sales Channel (available only in the US right now), you MUST agree to Facebook's Terms of Use. Part of the Terms are that you have to accept 30-day returns as part of the agreement.
- There is no charge to list an item in Marketplace, but there are credit card processing fees (just like on any other platform). The Facebook credit card processing fee is 2.9% + $0.30 per transaction.
- For things you sell on Marketplace, you are NOT paid immediately. You are paid anywhere from 5 to 30 days AFTER you ship the item. Yikes.
- You must also agree to Facebook's Shipping Policy - https://www.facebook.com/business/help/211403042968780?helpref=page_content . NOTE: There is no shipping calculator, so it looks like you have to set up ONE shipping fee for everything you sell. Not sure how that would work.
- Everything you sell must be NEW. And 30% of what you sell must be in the following categories: Beauty, Apparel and Accessories, Bags, Luggage, Baby, Kids, or Home Decor.

AND.... if you already have a Facebook Shop and Instagram connected to your Shopify store, you will have to migrate them into the Facebook Marketplace. Here is an article that describes this https://help.shopify.com/en/manual/sell-online/facebook-marketplace/facebook-marketplace-setup#migrating-from-the-facebook-sales-channel-to-the-facebook-marketplace-channel
You can read a lot more through the links included here.
I, for one, will not be using the Facebook Marketplace - even for the new craft supplies I sell. I personally like the way I have a Facebook Shop and Instagram Product Tagging right now for my vintage shop.
I hope this information helps!
