GOOGLE ALERTS
Do you want to know when your shop is mentioned on a blog, or in the media?
Or maybe you want to keep an eye on your competitors whenever they are mentioned online.
All you need is a Google Alert!
I just posted a new article here on the blog. Hope you find it helpful. Let me know if you have any questions.

So if I put in "2aEmporium" would it alert me every time someone does @2aemporium on Slack, too? Or FaceBook, etc? Just wondering if I would be notified several times for the same thing.

Google Alerts only works on the internet - when your keyword or phrase is mentioned there.
Unfortunately, Google Alerts can't monitor social media, or this Slack group (the Slack group is a private, unpublished, unsearchable group as far as the internet goes).

Sounds good. I think I might give it a try. Of course, I don't think that I'm a really hot topic at the moment. But you never know...

I've been using Google Alerts for MANY years. I find it to be a "must have" tool.
I've discovered quite a few blogs that have mentioned my shop, but didn't include a link to it. When this happens, I contact that blog, thank them for the mention, leave a thoughtful comment on their post, and give them the URL and ask if they would update their post to include the link. By doing this, I gain valuable backlinks to my store, which increases my ranking in Google search.
