@jaydee I tried to figure out where to ask this question and it seems like the "how to" of it would fit in this category. Please feel free to move it if it doesn't. My question is about my profile pic across the internet. I think you call it a Gravatar. When I had my WordPress blogs, I had a profile pic with them of Mrs. A. When I commented on a blog, Mrs. A.'s pic showed up instead of the gray head. Now, I have noticed that I show up as a gray head on WordPress blogs. It also showed up which I commented on blogs that only allowed me to post using my Google Account. However, when I tried to comment on a post on Blogger yesterday, my pic disappeared as well as my comment as soon as I hit enter, and I can't get my profile pic back. I have not signed up for Bloglovin yet. (It's on my to-do list.) So...did my profile pic of Mrs. A. disappear when I shut down my WordPress? How do I get a consistent profile pic across the internet. I really don't understand signing up for a Gravatar. If that's what I need to do, then I need some help with that. If that's not it, do I sign up for a profile with WordPress, Bloglovin, Google (should already be) and others for my pic to show up? Any help would be appreciated. EDITED: By the way, I thought using a Gravatar or profile pic across the internet might be considered a "tip".

@2aemporium - You are SO correct! Using a Gravatar is a HUGE tip! By using a Gravatar, YOU are consistent across the internet, as you said, and it helps to brand you and your shop.
The other part of the tip is, also as you've said, to comment on other blogs! This helps "spread yourself around" in a natural way. When you leave quality comments on blogs that your customers read, it can make a big impact.
I do HIGHLY recommend getting a Gravatar.
Gravatars ARE tied to WordPress.com (and WordPress.com is almost always tied to WordPress.org blogs because of the Jetpack plugin). So yes, when you removed your WordPress blog, it also most likely erased your Gravatar account.
Before you can create a Gravatar, you need to have a WordPress.com account - as that is what connects to Gravatar.
If you already have a WordPress.com account....
To Create (or Modify) a Gravatar Account:
- Go to https://en.gravatar.com/
- Click the blue SIGN IN button
- Enter your WordPress.com email and password and click SIGN IN
- Upload an image to use as your Gravatar and you're set!
If you do NOT have a WordPress.com account...
- Go to https://en.gravatar.com/
- Click the blue SIGN IN button click the NEED AN ACCOUNT link near the bottom of the sign in box
- Enter your Email address, type a Username (anything you'd like), then enter a password
- Click the SIGN UP button"
- Check your email for the WordPress.com confirmation message and click the ACTIVATE ACCOUNT link in that email. That will bring you back to WordPress.com and you'll see the account has been activated
- Click the blue SIGN IN TO GRAVATAR button
- Upload an image to use as your Gravatar and you're set!
I hope this helps.
